Introduction

Present day world is termed the age of Technology and is taking rapid strides in term of innovations, increase in volume of production, product range, quality and reach. Events are happening with enormous pace that is making it necessary for the work force to continuously evolve and acquire requisite skills timely.

Technical innovations are translated into production reality by the skilled manpower and advancements in spread of technology increases the demand for skilled workforce in all spheres of business activity. Keeping in view the growing demand for skilled manpower, Delhi Institute of Management technology (DIMAT) is being established by Divine India Charitable Trust (DICT).

The members of the Governing body of the Trust are eminent educationists of various disciplines like physics, management, sociology etc. They have a good track record in not only academics but also in organizing various academic activities and institutions.

Indian economy is in the take off stage at present and U.P. is one of the most potent states in terms of resources and population. Although it is not well endowed in terms of minerals but it is among the leading states in terms of Agro based and other industries. Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Noida, Meerut, Aligarh, Moradabad, Lucknow, Firozabad, Modinagar are major industrial towns. Major industries in U.P. are sugar, textile, glass, Aluminium, Leather, Engineering goods, electronic goods, cement, food oil, Alcohol, Chemicals and fertilizers. The state is also the leading producer and exported of handicrafts .

Industry Scenario and Management Education
Indian economy at present is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It’s growth both in terms of volume and value is sizable and picking up further. Keeping in view the total size of the economy, its present industrial growth rate of around 8% is commendable.

This justifies the attention it is getting as one of the most promising business destinations in the world. Consequently there is a flood of MNCs and large business houses pouring down their resources via collaborations or setting up business units in India. The govt. of India has also responded favourably by creating a conducing business environment through various reforms. As a result business activities in terms of number of different products and number of organisations are growing calling for trained workforce.

U.P. is a large state both in terms of population and total area. It has a number of industrial towns which have potential of becoming growth centres. Despite these facts, the industrial growth in U.P. had not been what it could have largely due to the gap between demand and supply of trained manpower. Self financed technical and professional education has been relatively a new trend and more than 134 management institute have come up in the last decade in U.P.

Every year more than a Lac students appear in the UPSEAT entrance exam for management courses but owing to very few seats most of them do not get admission. It is therefore quite obvious to have more management institutes to bridge the gap of demand and supply.

The re-organisation of technical and management education should take into account the anticipated scenario by the end of one decade, with specific reference to the likely changes in the economy, community, environment, production and management processes.

Also many satellite cities like Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Sonipat, Meerut, Ghaziabad are being industrially developed so the need for entrepreneurs and budding management professionals is on the upward swing.
